In every choice that they make, the Awliya KiraamAS <\/sup>ascertain Allah\u2019s happiness and accept it as their own; they act accordingly, no matter how difficult their plight, no matter how intense their suffering.\u00a0 For us adna <\/em>mumineen, AwliyaullahAS<\/sup>\u2019s choices and actions enlighten the path towards making the right choice and the rewards inherent within.<\/p>\n

AllahTA<\/sup> gives all of us intellect and moral agency; we are free to make our own choices. Choices determine our path; they determine our destiny. Awliya KiraamAS<\/sup>\u2019s mohabbat is a moral compass that leads us to our ultimate goal\u2014Jannat<\/em>. Awliya KiraamAS<\/sup> constantly counsel us, support us and steer us along sirat e mustaqeem<\/em>. Thus, when we choose, we do so with faith, confidence and itme\u2019naan.<\/em><\/p>\n

In the history of Islam and Iman<\/em>, the choices of Awliya AS<\/sup> and their mohibbeen<\/em> serve as beacons of moral agency.<\/p>\n

Maulana Ibrahim KhalilullahAS<\/sup><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/sup>The fire was lit, the catapult ready. The enemy prepared to launch Ibrahim NabiAS<\/sup> into the fire. In this time of great peril, Jibraeel descended and asked Ibrahim NabiAS <\/sup>if he wished to ask anything of Allah. Ibrahim Nabi declined and said:<\/p>\n

\u201cO Jibraeel! \u2026 If Allah\u2019s qadaa\u2019<\/em> dictates that I must burn in fire, then so be it! I choose not to question Allah\u2019s will\u2026doing so is not in my character! I will not argue or ask for consideration; I will accept Allah\u2019s diktat.\u201d<\/p>\n

Indeed, Ibrahim Nabi AS<\/sup> willingly accepted Allah\u2019s qadaa\u2019<\/em> even when the enemy condemned him to burn. He trusted Allah, left his destiny in His hands, and Allah protected him. Ibrahim NabiAS<\/sup>\u2019s choice affirmed that if you choose Allah\u2019s happiness even in the most trying of times, He will reward you.<\/p>\n

Maulana Ibrahim ibn RasulullahSAW<\/sup> and Imam Husain ibn AliAS<\/sup><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/sup>RasulullahSAW<\/sup> was sitting with his son, Maulana Ibrahim, and his grandson, Imam HusainAS<\/sup>, when Jibraeel descended and said, \u201cI bring a command from Allah! Ibrahim and HusainAS<\/sup>-both are your children! Allah\u2019s qadaa\u2019<\/em> decrees that one of them must be sacrificed. Whom do you<\/em> choose?\u201d<\/p>\n

RasulullahSAW<\/sup> contemplated upon his decision. On one hand was his son Ibrahim, the youngest of his children. On the other was Husain, his beloved grandson!<\/p>\n

Obeying Allah\u2019s command, RasulullahSAW<\/sup> offered Ibrahim\u2019s soul to Allah, knowing that HusainAS<\/sup>\u2019s destiny lay in the scorching desert sands of Karbala.<\/p>\n

RasulullahSAW<\/sup> did not question Allah\u2019s decree, and readily carried out His\u00a0wish. HeSAW<\/sup> confirmed that even when the reasoning behind His\u00a0commands may seem unclear, even when the choice seems incredibly difficult, AllahTA<\/sup> only desires that which is good for us.<\/p>\n

Haaris Hamdaan<\/p>\n

Haaris Hamdaan was one of Maulana AliAS<\/sup>\u2019s most devout followers. His enduring mohabbat<\/em> for Amirul MumineenAS <\/sup>angered the enemy, who threatened to throw him into the fire if he did not stop preaching the magnificence and benevolence of Maulana AliAS<\/sup>. Haaris responded by saying, \u201cDo what you want! My salvation rests only in the mohabbat<\/em> of Maulana AliAS<\/sup>! I will never let go of it!\u201d The enemy threw him into the fire. Haaris called out for Maulana AliAS<\/sup>, who extended his hand to Haaris and commanded the fire to spare him!<\/p>\n

Haaris chose Maulana Ali\u2019s walayat<\/em> and Amirul Mumineen himself saved him, revealing that fire \u2013 jahannam<\/em> \u2013 will never hurt those who choose Maulana AliAS<\/sup> and his mohabbat <\/em>above all.<\/p>\n

This incident is proof that when we draw our final breath, Maulana AliAS<\/sup> will recognise us; he will quench our thirst with Hawze Kausar<\/em>! Why? We chose<\/em> Allah\u2019s happiness \u2013Maulana AliAS<\/sup>\u2019s mohabbat<\/em>, even when life presented us other tempting, easier choices.<\/p>\n

Maulana HurrAS<\/sup><\/p>\n

HurrAS<\/sup> was hovering on the edge of jannat<\/em> and jahannam<\/em>. Which did he choose?<\/p>\n

HurrAS<\/sup> came forward, dropping to his knees. Addressing Imam HusainAS<\/sup>, he cried, \u201cI was the first to stop your horse! Little did I know of the hardships that would befall you! Please save me! Please liberate me! Please let me be the first to die for you!\u201d<\/p>\n

Imam HusainAS<\/sup> granted raza mubarak to HurrAS<\/sup>, \u201cYou will rise to an exalted status in jannat<\/em>! Go, fight! HurrAS<\/sup> fought with valor till his last breath.<\/p>\n

Upon his martyrdom, Imam HusainAS<\/sup> graced him with his presence. Taking HurrAS<\/sup>\u2019s head in his lap, Imam HusainAS<\/sup> said, \u201cHurr! Your mother has aptly named you \u2018hurr\u2019!\u201d<\/p>\n

Hurr chose the path of noor<\/em>, mohabbat<\/em> and jannat<\/em> over the fires of jahannam. <\/em>His decision affirmed that if you choose Imam HusainAS<\/sup>, Allah will free you from all your troubles, from all your sins! You too will become hurr<\/em> \u2013 free!<\/p>\n

Imam HusainAS<\/sup><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/sup>Imam HusainAS<\/sup> was on the battlefield with Zulfaqaar in his hand. Jibraeel descended with a host of mala\u2019ekat<\/em> and asked if Imam HusainAS<\/sup> so wished, the mala\u2019ekat<\/em> would destroy Yazid\u2019s army. HusainAS<\/sup> looked at Jibraeel and asked, \u201cWhat is Allah\u2019s will?\u201d How could Jibraeel answer? His eyes filled with tears. \u201cIt is Allah\u2019s will that you choose martyrdom!\u201d HusainAS<\/sup> sheathed Zulfaqaar and carried out the will of Allah by bowing down unto Him in his final sajda.<\/p>\n

Allah chose Awliya KiramAS <\/sup>\u2013 he chose Imam HusainAS<\/sup> and our Dai Maulana Mufaddal Saifuddin AqaTUS<\/sup>. They are the chosen ones (Ibaad Mustafawn<\/em>). Imam HusainAS<\/sup> chose to pray for us in his final sajda; he chose to fulfill the will and happiness of Allah! Despite scorching desert heat, despite thirst and hunger, despite all suffering, Imam HusainAS<\/sup> sacrificed his followers, his family, and his own life \u2013 all for Allah\u2019s happiness, for the preservation of Islam and for the eternal salvation of Rasulullah\u2019s ummat<\/em>! This is Husain\u2019s shaan<\/em>! His unparalleled courage, his magnificence, his selflessness!<\/p>\n

Time and again, AllahTA<\/sup> and His AwliyaAS<\/sup> have affirmed that when we use our intellect in the light of AwliyaullahAS<\/sup>\u2019s mohabbat and gladly choose Allah\u2019s will and happiness in all circumstances, we too will reach that aala manzil <\/em>of pleasing Allah.<\/p>\n

Today, we ask ourselves, \u201cWhat will we<\/strong> choose?\u201d<\/p>\n
